A Tribute to Jacques Guhl
A vital element of the project’s visual narrative was the integration of poetry by Jacques Guhl (1922–2024). A seminal figure in Swiss culture and sport, Guhl was the founder of the first football school in Valais (FC Sion) and a celebrated poet who bridged the worlds of literature and athletics. By screenprinting his verses onto the textiles, the artist paid homage to his “philosophy of football,” which harmonizes individual discipline with the collective spirit.
Ringeisen produced a series of screenprints on upcycled bedsheets, featuring Ubuntu symbols of fairness and empowerment. These textiles, carrying Guhl’s poetic legacy, were transformed into two bespoke couture outfits by the scholars of the Ecole de Couture Sierre. This process synthesized fine art, regional history, and sartorial craftsmanship.
